Combining two of Cornwall’s most talented and experienced young musicians, ‘Leski’ offer a unique blend of high energy fiddle playing and the enchanting sounds of the hammered dulcimer, brought to you from the heart of Cornwall. Leski pride themselves on their unique repertoire which combines their passion for Cornish music and tradition, with fresh new material, drawing on their own musical experience and influences. Hammered dulcimer legend Kerensa is probably best known for her early work with Tim van Eyken and as the founder member of The Acoustic Youth Band. Richard Trethewey grew up surrounded by music and began playing fiddle at the age of 8. He joined the community fiddle group ‘Bagas Crowd’ and has gone on to become one of Cornwall’s finest fiddlers. Leski have played a wide range of venues, from the smallest folk clubs, private functions and weddings, to festivals including Chippenham and Cornwall Folk Festivals, to Yn Chruinnaght (the Isle of Man), The Isles of Scilly and Lowender Peran Interceltic Festivals, often joined by guitarist Steve Hunt.

The duo released there debut album ‘Leski’ in 2008, tracks from which have been used on compilation albums, as sound tracks and are still regularly aired on radio today.

While Kerensa had to step away from performing, Richard completed his Folk Degree in Newcastle and continued to work as a solo artist and in collaboration on some great projects.

In 2012 he released his first solo album which received great reviews, not just for his fiddle playing, but for his song writing skills and his rich vocals.

“Like a fine wine Leski get better with age” or so they’ve been told ….. After being forced to take an extended break, the duo are looking forward to working on new ideas and performing together again in 2017/18!
