Kerensa has been playing Hammered Dulcimer for over 20 years. Having received expert tuition herself from some of the countries finest (the late) Jim Couza and Maclaine Colston, she has developed her own unique style, which combines delicate ornamentation with driving rhythm and everything in between.

“I fell in love with the Hammered Dulcimer the moment I heard it. The instruments ancient and dulcet tone, transport you to another world and not only is it a delight to listen to – it’s an absolute delight to play! What I love the most, is that the moment you hit the strings, it rings out with the most beautiful of sounds. You don’t have to be an experienced musician to experience great joy from playing it.”

Kerensa loves nothing more than to share her skills and enthusiasm with others. Whether you are an experienced musician and able to read music, or have never played an instrument or read a note in your life, she can guarantee that the first lesson will leave you wanting more.

You don’t have to have an instrument of your own. Kerensa is more than happy to point you in the right direction to loan, or purchase a Hammered Dulcimer if and when the time is right. In the meantime, just book a session and have a go!

Kerensa first started running general music / performance skill workshops in her teenage years and is used to working with large groups of people.

Hammered Dulcimer workshops can range from complete beginners to advanced and she also runs ‘come and try’ sessions where (by prior arrangement) she can provide several instruments so that anybody who doesn’t own their own or is experiencing the instrument for the first time can get involved.

Kerensa also runs Cornish music workshops, primarily for Hammered Dulcimer players (from beginner to advanced) but can include other instruments too.
